In Vinyasa Yoga, and many other forms of Yoga, Back-bending Asana (postures) are arguably among some of the most challenging - physically and emotionally - for many of us. But a regular ‘heart-opener’ practice, done properly, gives many benefits for the body and mind…
On a physical level, back-bends will support postural health while also enhancing both cardiovascular and respiratory health. And on a more subtle level, by arching your chest and throat open, you can gain the strength, stamina and heart to use your voice - to speak up, out and share.
This workshop is for those ready to advance their practice and those just starting out with Yoga. Either way we will go deeper into our back-bends by working through simple anatomical principles, progressive exercises for strength and flexibility, and proper spinal care with counterposes (and movements). We will explore back-bending postures that can be adapted or modified for a variety of bodies and practices.
