Postnatal Yoga Series for Mom & Baby

Join Simona for an active, safe and supportive series of yoga classes that address the challenges of the fourth trimester. This series is for mothers who are more than 6 weeks postpartum* and feel ready to get back to a movement practice that supports both physical and mental well-being. You will...

…Practice yoga postures and breathing exercises for better health after pregnancy.
…Improve your postpartum recovery and bring a little ‘zen’ to your parenting.
…Connect with other mothers in a similar stage of early parenting.

This series will be modified for yoga practices of all levels and taught in English (German translation available when needed). We invite you to attend class with your baby or come alone for a little ‘me time.’

PLEASE NOTE: This series requires a minimum of 4 registered participants, by one week before the start date. If you would like to join, please register early.

DROP-IN: To registration for a drop-in class please contact us directly via email. We prioritize full series registrations but when possible are happy to invite new moms in for a single class.

MISSED CLASS POLICY: Participants are able to reschedule one missed class (because of any reason) to another series or a comparable open level Yoga class.

* We recommend that you let your body heal at least 4 to 6 weeks after vaginal birth (10 weeks for cesarean birth) before attending postnatal yoga classes. Please follow the recommendation of your doctor or midwife.

Meet Simona Kortenhaus

Yoga is part of Simona’s everyday life since more than 15 years. Working as a professional dancer and dance teacher she learned a lot about human body physics and also about her own body. Within her intensive work with the body and mind she also gained a lot of experience on different somatic practices.

Yoga is one of her favorite ways to bring the body into a flow and keep it agile and flexible. For her it’s a perfect combination of centering and strengthening the body. The structure of yoga allows her to work consciously through the whole body. That’s why Simona decided 2016 to become a trained Yoga teacher in addition to her dance profession. She is a certified (Hatha-) Yoga Teacher following the Yoga Alliance Standard (200h) and has done teacher trainings in Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga. Also, her parenthood and many travel experiences shaped her a lot. In combination with her empathy, she can support the Yoga students and gives space so that everybody can be one’s own teacher.

One of the most important topics of Simona’s Yoga practice and yoga classes is to take the time to feel the own body, to scan through, to concentrate on the breath in order to use it as motivation for movement. The breath gives her the possibility to release and gain energy for the whole body. Furthermore, the aim of her practice is to harmonize the breath and body in a way, that the mind can calm down and relax.
