Shifting Perspectives
When we need them most, life’s lessons seem to have a way of finding us.
I was stuck in a rut recently.
During this time, I watched my oldest daughter navigate a new game App (Monument Valley). The game’s architectural landscape is a beautiful puzzle of impossible realities to be explored and solved. (You really should check it out!) At first the problems she explored were simple, but eventually I observed as my daughter ‘stood’ just in front of a broken pathway.
I resonated with that moment.
I felt my daughter’s urge to give up. But she continued to navigate the game, eventually solving the puzzle only by shifting her vantage (view) point. After taking a new perspective she could see that the path was not really broken and she could continue on her way.
And that was my ‘a-ha!’ moment…
It is true that we often don’t have a choice about what is happening, there are factors beyond our control… but we do have the ability to choose how we see and experience things. We can see life’s setbacks - the broken or blocked path - as a negative or as an opportunity to shift perspectives.
My pathway is not broken, actually… I have been on it the whole time.
I am aligned with my vision. Because my vision with YOGABLOOM is and was always to create opportunities for connection and community. And that work has never been on pause…
