As we reflect on these last days of 2020, we are making rest a priority. For us rest doesn’t always look like a good nap or a full night of sleep - in fact, it rarely looks like that! Rest is so much more. Guided by some of our friends and colleagues we have been reframing rest as the recovery time that we give ourselves to come back to center.

The words don’t always come out exactly like that, but an apology is the implied message.
After a Family or Toddler Yoga class this implied apology is pretty common. It is made on behalf of a child who was more interested in running than yoga-ing, or for the kid who cried or screamed during class, or for the little one who sat to the side seemingly uninterested… or any number of other yoga blunders.

Just last week I watched my child prepare for, accept and recover brilliantly from a simple (although certainly uncomfortable) surgery. I also watched myself deal with each of those stages of her experience - often with much less grace than she.
